Dan first developed his love of fine wine while working on Saturday Night Live and the first Blues Brothers movie. The musician Steve Cropper introduced Dan to Premier Cru Bordeaux and other fine wines.
Since this time, Dan has been trying the best of local wines wherever he goes in his travels around the world.
In December 2005, it was announced that Dan Aykroyd would be entering the wine business with his investing and partnering with Toronto-based Diamond Estates Wines & Spirits Ltd. Since inception in 2000, Diamond Estates has grown exponentially and is recognized as a top wines and spirits agency which produces, distributes and markets some of the most compelling beverage alcohol brands.
After nearly two years of working closely with Diamond Estates Wines & Spirits’ head winemaker Tom Green, the first Dan Aykroyd line of wines were launched in Canada in June 2007 to rave reviews by the wine critics, media and wine lovers alike.
It was also announced in 2007 that the Dan Aykroyd Winery would be built in Canada’s world famous Niagara wine region.
Plans are now underway to launch Dan Aykroyd’s portfolio of wines in the US, Europe and Asia.
